Description

In this session, panelists from the Canadian Mountain Network and the Mountain Sentinels Collaborative Network shard experiences and insights in working towards sustainable mountain development through authentic partnerships between local/Indigenous people and western scientists. They shared examples of braiding knowledges and demonstrated why addressing critical mountain sustainability challenges - such as climate change, disasters, and food insecurity – required this new approach.
Tual Sawn Khai discussed the importance of higher education programs for indigenous mountain people for sustainable development in mountain communities around the world at the session.
