Description
Dr. Siu Yan Ho, Lecturer from the Department of Chinese at Lingnan University, will share his experiences with his students in a Service-Learning study tour to Taiwan – “Service in Hong Kong, Learning in Taiwan: Exploration of the Community, Historical Reconstruction and Cultural Comparison”. This project aims to widen students’ horizons and to allow them to observe and experience the living, historical and cultural environment in Taiwan through learning activities, community service and narrative of local history by the Taiwanese, in order to continue and extend service-learning and compare the differences between Hong Kong and Taiwan. Dr. Siu will share about how to implement this project from the preparation stage and the challenges he faced. From the learning side, he will also share about the students’ understandings toward social issues from humanistic perspectives, and the knowledge of Service-Learning they learnt in Taiwan, including visiting the “Silver Hair’s Lodge”, interviewing an elderly wood-carver, and investigating developments of Salt Fields.Period | 9 Mar 2020 |
