Description
The Modern Movement in architecture, which emphasizes utility, efficiency, and mass production method, has had a global impact on architectural design. Modern architecture arrived in Hong Kong in the 1930s and became the dominant architectural style after the Second World War. The spirit of architectural modernism is best embodied in the city’s public buildings, such as markets, schools, and city halls. Their simple and efficient design meets the social and economic needs of the modern era. In this talk, the speaker will examine the history and conservation of Hong Kong’s modern public buildings and discuss the global trend that places an increasingly strong emphasis on safeguarding modern heritages.Period | 20 Jun 2023 |
