The three-day International Symposium runs in two parts, with the first two and a half days devoted to research paper presentations in plenary format, and the final half day in workshop format, targeting local educators about educational issues relevant to the Hong Kong context.
The Symposium aims to identify and learn from various intellectual, pragmatic, theoretical and methodological issues for possible new orientations in Cultural Studies/Education, and to examine and develop the productive interface between Cultural Studies and Education in the contemporary contexts under three broad themes :
- Education as Cultural Process: Contemporary Critiques of Pedagogy - Rethinking Cultural Practices for Education: Innovative Programmes and Models - The Work of Educators as Cultural Mediators: Problems and Alternatives
The symposium is funded by a Competitive Earmarked Research Grant from the Research Grants Council (HK) 2007-2009, and Master of Cultural Studies Programme, Lingnan University, Hong Kong.
