MSF won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999 in recognition of its "pioneering humanitarian work on several continents" SINCE THE TERRORIST attacks in the United States, people everywhere have begun learning their way around maps of Central Asia. The focus is on Uzbekistan in particular because it is one of the few countries sharing a border with Afghanistan, which the US accuses of harbouring Osama bin Laden, suspected architect of the attacks on the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon.
