Personal profile

Biography

I am a scholar researching social policy issues related to disasters, displacement, and climate action in Southeast Asia, with a focus on Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

My works have been adopted in globally important reports and policy instruments from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), UNFAO, Asian Development Bank, and UN Water. My papers have also been peer-reviewed and published in high-impact and leading journals, such as Political Geography, Geoforum, World Development, the International Journal for Disaster Risk Reduction, and Third World Quarterly. My interdisciplinary projects are funded by The British Academy, SSHRC of Canada, Lingnan University, La Trobe University, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO-UK) and Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

Currently, I am building a new pipeline of critical and comparative studies on climate change and healthy ageing among older people in Hong Kong SAR and the Philippines.
