Hongyi ("Ian") Zhan is a Ph.D. Candidate in Government and International Affairs and Part-Time Teaching and Research Assistant at Lingnan University, Hong Kong. Previously, he was a Visiting PhD Student at Department of Sociology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, studying social statistics. Prior to his doctorate study at Lingnan, Hongyi has been serving as Research Assistant at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Baptist University successively for two years, where he was mainly conducting pedagogy studies, including but not limited to the national education and research development of higher education. He holds an M.A. in International Studies from City University of Hong Kong and a LL.B. in Internationa Laws from Hubei University of Economics.
Hongyi's research interest centers on comparative politics and political methodology. More specifically, he is interested in exploring identity politics, nationalism, democracy, political psychology, and public opinion.
