Rebecca was the Head of CEAL between 2013-14 and 2017-18. She has been working in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT) for more than 30 years. Rebecca worked as a full-time teacher of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at the British Council, Hong Kong, for five years before joining Lingnan University, responsible for teaching and designing a wide range of English language courses aimed at enhancing students’ language proficiency and developing their skills.
Rebecca’s professional interests include language testing and course and curriculum design. She was an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examiner between 1994 and 2004 and served as an English Oral Assessor of LPAT (Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers) in 2001. Since 1994, she has acted as setter, examiner, marker and moderator of many open recruitment written English examinations for various HKSAR Government Departments, including Civil Aviation, Correctional Services Department, Customs and Excise, Food and Environmental Hygiene, Home Affairs and Immigration, as well as for the Civil Service Bureau.
Rebecca is committed to working with her team of professional language teachers at CEAL and with the collaboration of other academic departments to further develop our students’ English language proficiency and introduce them to the various additional languages offered by the Centre.

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys playing badminton and tennis as well as swimming and cycling.
