Biography

Prof. Lai Wei joined Lingnan University in 2016. She is currently Professor and Head of the Department of Finance and the Director of the Lingnan University - Jinan University Joint Research Centre for Financial Inclusion and Digital Economy. She obtained the Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Finance with First Class Honors and a PhD degree in Finance from the University of Hong Kong. She is a life-time member of Beta Gama Sigma Business Society and a research fellow at the Centre for Financial Innovation and Development in the University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include corporate finance, information disclosure, innovation, FinTech, ESG, law and economic growth. Her papers have been presented in conferences including American Finance Association (AFA) Annual Meeting, Western Finance Association (WFA) Annual Meeting, European Finance Association (EFA) Annual Meeting, Society for Financial Studies (SFS) Cavalcades, Financial Management Association (FMA) Annual Meeting, and China International Conference in Finance (CICF), circulated as the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) working paper, and featured on Harvard Law School Corporate Governance Forum. Her papers are published or forthcoming in leading academic journals, including Journal of FinanceAccounting ReviewJournal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Management Science, Journal of Development Economics and Journal of Law and Economics.
