Biography

I hold a Ph.D. degree in Management Science/System from McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business, Canada. Since August 2005, I have been working as a full-time faculty member at Lingnan University’s Faculty of Business. In the past 16 years, I have devoted every effort to continuously enhance my contributions to the development of Lingnan University, and have achieved the excellence in research, teaching, and services.

I am currently a Chair Professor of Operations Management, the Dean of the Faculty of Business, and the Acting Director of the Institute of Insurance and Risk Management. I have previously served the University as (a) the Head of Department of Computing and Decision Sciences in August 2014—August 2017, (b) the Founding Director of the Doctor of Business Administration in Global Digital Economy and Governance Programme (January—August 2021), and (c) the Founding Director of the Master of Science Programme in eBusiness and Supply Chain management at Lingnan University (August 2015—August 2017). In addition, I have contributed to a great number of committees at the University and the Faculty levels.

My research interests are centered on game theory (with a focus on cooperative game theory), operations and supply chain management, and interface between operations and other disciplines. In the capacity of Principle Investigator (PI), I have successfully obtained 5 General Research Fund (GRF) grants (awarded in 2009, 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2020) from the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) in the total amount of over HK$1.68 million, and have also acquired a financial support/donation in amount of HK$840,000 from a company in Mainland China to support my research and knowledge transfer (KT) activities at the Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies (a research center in the Faculty of Business) in 2021-2023. I have also secured the Croucher Foundation Visitorship for PRC Scholars in amount of HK$144,000 to support a Mainland professor's visit to Lingnan University for research collaborations with me during the academic year 2009-2010. In addition, I have secured 12 internal grants in amount of HK$768,726.25. In summary, I have successfully obtained the total financial support HK$3,437,046.25 for my research activities.

I have published a number of papers in top-tier or highly-respected journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, Production and Operations Management, IISE Transactions (formerly, IIE Transactions), Naval Research Logistics, European Journal of Operational Research, Operations Research Letters, and others. Moreover, I am a member in the Editorial Review Board of Production and Operations Management and an Associate Editor of INFOR: Information Systems and Operational Research.

I have a rich, and successful, experience in the development and teaching of a number of business courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, which mainly include operations management, supply chain management, game theory, project management, simulation, eBusiness models and startup, etc. In addition to academic experiences, I have five-year work experiences in industry.
