Biography

WEI Xiangdong is currently the Dean of Social Sciences at Lingnan University. He is also a Professor in the Department of Economics, Lingnan University. He had previously served as a part-time Chair in Industrial and Labour Economics in the Business School of University of Birmingham in the UK, and Adjunct Professors in Economics in Zhongshan University and Southwest University of Finance and Economics, China. He got his B.Sc. in Mathematics from Zhongshan University, China, and his M.Soc.Sc. in Money, Banking and Finance and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Birmingham, UK. He is the founding Director of the Master of Science in International Banking and Finance Programme in Lingnan University. He is also currently a member of ESRC Peer Review College in the UK, a senior economic advisor to the Zhengzhou Municipal Government, Henan Province, China, and an Executive Committee member of the Hong Kong Economic Association. His main areas of research are in Labour Economics, International Trade and Finance, Chinese and Hong Kong Economy. He has published papers in journals such as Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of International Economics, Oxford Economics Papers, Journal of Comparative Economics, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Industrial Relations, Southern Economic Journal, Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, Canadian Journal of Economics, Journal of Economic Organization and Behavior etc. He had also served as a consultant for the UK Department of Employment, the Education and Manpower Bureau in Hong Kong and Hong Kong Council of Social Services, Bauhinia Foundation, and Hong Kong Securities Institute.
