Biography
Yixin Gu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chinese at Lingnan University, a post that he has held since receiving his Ph. D. degree from Princeton University in 2022. His research cuts across literature and intellectual history in premodern China and beyond (primarily focusing on early and medieval times), with wide-ranging interests in poetics, rhetoric, aesthetics, philosophy, historiography, philology, and literary criticism. His research outputs in English and Chinese are published in academic journals such as T’oung Pao, Journal of the American Oriental Society, Oriens Extremus, Renwen Zhongguo xuebao 人文中國學報, and Zhonghua wenshi lunsong 中華文史論叢. His Dissertation, “The Enchantment of Erudition: Models and Manifestations of Literary Culture in Han-Wei China” (2022), a winner of the Marjorie Chadwick Buchanan Dissertation Prize (Princeton University), is foundational to his first book project (in-progress).
