本书为学术译著，原作"A Chinese literary mind : culture, creativity, and rhetoric in Wenxin diaolong"。
"中国文心"是英语世界中唯一一部"文心雕龙"研究论著，代表了英语世界"龙学"的最高成就。全书共由十篇论文组成，既可以作单篇论文的解读，合起来又是一部多角度研究"文心雕龙"的理论论著。全书共分为四个部分："文学及批评传统"，即"文心雕龙"在中国文学批评传统建构中的作用；"思想基础"，即"文心雕龙"所受的思想影响；"创作过程"，即"文心雕龙"的文学创作理论；"修辞艺术"，即"文心雕龙"的修辞理论。全书从这四个角度对主题进行了深入细致的研究。
