Abstract
《南京条约》在1842年签订后，香港正式成为了英国的殖民地，并由适用的英国法例所管辖。在整整155年的英国统治中，香港也顺理成章地秉承了大不列颠帝国 (the British Empire) 的一套法律制度。如果要明白我国香港地区精神疾病司法鉴定的概况，我们首先要了解香港法系的背景、法律语言、香港司法架构和司法制度下的不同角色。本文亦会应笔者在香港精神疾病司法鉴定工作的经验，对司法鉴定的范围和程序，作出概括的描述和诠释。
