近年来围绕奈达的等效翻译原则而展开的辩论表明， 双方的唯一目标是要寻求一套先验的、规范性的翻译理论， 以指导一切翻译， 而不问具体情形和翻译目的。归根结底， 原因是中国译论研究在儒家道德传统的束缚下， 依然充满各种各样的价值判断。

The recent debate in China over Nida′s principle of equivalent effect demonstrates that both sides concern themselves solely with the search for an a priori, prescriptive theory of translation applicable in all circumstances and for all purposes. The ultimate cause is that Chinese theoretical translation studies is still riddled with value judgements in line with the Confucian moral tradition.
