Abstract
In the Journal Critical Review, there is a considerable number of translated works, among which many are related to Irving Babbitt’s New Humanism. In some of the translations, a "Editor's Commentary” elucidates the translation principles of the "Editor". In this article, we will explore the founding of the journal, the role Wu Mi plays in the Editorial Board and the relationship between Wu Mi and the other members of the Xueheng School. We will further discuss to what extent the translation principles are Wu Mi's own, or the result of the influence from certain patrons. The study indicates that Wu Mi plays a crucial role in the Editorial Committee and the translation principles of this journal also reflect those of Wu Mi himself.
