善道同行 : 東華三院一百五十周年史略

東華三院成立已超過150年，從廣福義祠開始，到創立東華醫院，後來三院合併， 並逐漸成為一個規模龐大且多元化的慈善機構，至今仍然屹立不倒，並且推陳出新， 提供多種切合市民需要的服務，可說是華人機構的一個傳奇。

本書以詳近略遠的方式、按時序記述東華由成立至今一個半世紀的歷史。 全書共分為三個部分，分別析述1870至1950年代、1960至1990年代，以及2000年至現在， 東華如何在不同時期回應時代的變化，提供醫療、賑濟、教育、社會等服務， 在香港的歷史發展中扮演重要的角色。隨着香港的政治、經濟、 社會等變化，東華積極檢視並革新自身的管治模式與架構，又在服務上有所拓展， 以應市民所需。唯一不變的是，東華一直保持為市民服務的初心– 為善行道，與人同行。

本書不但記錄了東華三院的歷史，同時涉及香港史、中國近代史、 海外華人史、醫療史、社會史、教育史等課題，內容豐富廣泛， 適合對歷史有興趣的人士閱讀。更難能可貴的是，作者突破了前人有關東華的著述， 記述了回歸後至2020年的東華歷史，闡釋了「東華模式」的成功歷程， 可以作為「東華學」的其中一本重要著作。

<eng>Tung Wah Group of Hospitals has been established for over 150 years. It began with the Kwong Fuk Ancestral Hall, then founded Tung Wah Hospital, and later merged the three hospitals to gradually become a large-scale and diversified charitable organization. It has stood strong to this day, continuously innovating and providing a wide range of services that meet the needs of the public, making it a legendary institution among Chinese organizations.

This book chronicles the one and a half century history of Tung Wah from its establishment to the present in a detailed yet concise manner, arranged chronologically. The book is divided into three parts, analyzing the periods from the 1870s to the 1950s, the 1960s to the 1990s, and from 2000 to the present. It illustrates how Tung Wah responded to the changes of each era by providing medical care, relief, education, social services, and played an important role in Hong Kong’s historical development.
