我們都在蘇屋邨長大 : 香港人公屋生活的集體回憶

Even though it is now in the process of being demolished, it is still the site of much collective memory of many families, serving as a testament to the many stories of struggles of the Hong Kong masses. Based on the oral histories of twenty-four former residents of So Uk Estate, this volume tells a very humanizing story of the many lives in public housing, and the history of public housing in Hong Kong more broadly.As much as 46% of the population of Hong Kong live in public housing. Many families often dwelled in public housing for several generations, spanning three to four decades. Over the many years, in these spaces of cohabitation, an unique “estate” culture gradually developed. This volume is a faithful record of this “estate” culture, giving a vista to the neighborly relations and harmonious society of Hong Kong society past.
