Abstract
A new X-Y-axes control system is developed for spring formation machines. Based on a newly developed algorithm in a pseudo-code version, a hardware architecture for such systems is derived by using the codesign methodology. Owing to this new approach to motor-driven mechanisms, production rate and accuracy of spring formation machines are greatly improved and the design criteria are duly met.
