Abstract

瞿佑《剪燈新話》,多涉元末亂世,卷三<愛卿傳>、<翠翠傳>,涉及亂世暴劫下的婦女,身不由己至激烈反抗,演繹成精彩的末世悲劇,很具特色,值得作深入的探究。以悲劇角度研究《剪燈新話》之文甚為罕見,本文以“命運”、衝突、悲劇快感等項,剖析<愛卿傳>和<翠翠傳>,彰顯世紀末悲劇的特殊性。《剪燈新話》之文發生的時間,多在元末流寇作亂、元明交替的亂世:<愛卿傳>和<翠翠傳>的背景,就是在至正年間(1341-1367)末世暴亂的江浙,篇中涉及亂世悲情。暴劫造成不可規避的“命運”,令女主人公無從躲避。翠翠和愛卿都遭受了被搶婚和逼姦的大劫。二人在面對厄運時,要麼採取消極反抗而鬱鬱以終(翠翠),要麼積極反抗而自殺殉節(愛卿)。在故事結尾,翠翠死後與夫冥聚,愛卿借他界之力,轉生為人,都展示了超越死亡的正能量。受難過程所展示的崇高感(sublime)與死亡的超越,乃產生悲劇快感(tragic pleasure)之由。 This paper attempts to analyse the tragic elements of “Cuicui zhuan” 翠翠傳and “Aiqing zhuan” 愛卿傳in Jiandeng xinhau剪燈新話. These two short fictions are set against a backdrop of social and political turmoil at end of the Yuan 元 dynasty (1206-1368). The protagonists’ sufferings in times of social and political upheavals, their resistance against evil forces and their transcendence of death are sources of tragic elements in these short fictions, which generate emotional catharsis for the readers.
