Abstract

The People's Republic of China (PRC) began its economic reforms, including its "open-door policy" in 1979. Since then, almost every sector of the economy has undergone changes to varying degrees. This chapter reviews both the pre- and post-reform foreign trade regime, analysing the Government's foreign trade reform and current policies, with an emphasis on export performance.
