Abstract
This article discusses the relationship between discourse and race, highlighting the central role of discourse to how race is construed and its manifestation in specific spatiotemporal contexts. It echoes the flexible, contextual nature of discourse and racialization, and affirms the view that discourse is integral to the (re)production of and the fight against racism, hence the utility of discourse analysis to research on race, racialization, and racism. The article further summarizes some discourse approaches to studying racism and underlines the value of interdisciplinary work and integrating methods in the examination of racialized issues and racist discourse. Finally, the article explains why discourse analysts must continue to expose and resist racist discourse and develop anti-racist strategies.
