Abstract
This special issue critically examines issues related to global/regional financial crises and their impacts on social policy and social development in Asia. The articles in this issue have chosen a major focus on examining how the social security policies have been affected by the global economic change and/or regional/global financial crises in three Chinese societies: mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. While examining different parts of welfare provision, the articles discuss the issues with concerns over the needs of marginalized and vulnerable groups in these societies.
