    Abstract

Asia’s economic resurgence and cumulative financial strengths in the last two decades have led to a debate on whether a shift in global power is underway from west to east. Although we have witnessed the continued growth of Asian economic, political and military strengths, we also see many limitations in Asia’s social and political development, given the region’s tradition, diversity and size. To move forward, the ideas of regional integration and cooperation enter the discussions among policymakers, researchers and practitioners on further and sustainable development of the region. In this context, this issue of Journal of Asian Public Policy gives a particular attention to the emerging debate on regional integration agenda in Asia. Three research articles selected in this issue are related to policy issues or conceptual discussion about ‘Asia as a region’ in different aspects.
