Abstract
ELT projects which form part of the UK's overseas aid programme are usually of fixed duration, and have clearly defined objectives. This article looks at the project framework as it has been developed as a tool of accountability. A project that took place in Malawi is briefly examined, and general principles for improving sustainability are discussed.
