Abstract

A rising amount of literature has underlined the significance of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) in the potential development of China and the rest of the globe. However, little attention has been given to the trend of literature in this field. This study was conducted to reveal the major trends in GBA-related research and construct an intellectual landscape of the relevant studies in the field. This study answers two research questions: What is the current trend in GBA publications? Is there any gap between GBA development plans and academic concerns? Bibliometric details of a total of 277 research documents, published from 2018 to 2022 (May), were retrieved from the Scopus database for further analysis. In particular, the publication trend, the most productive countries, the most productive authors, the top ten source titles, and keywords used in the research area, were explored using bibliometric indicators and visualised by VOS Viewer software. These critical analyses of prior work are considered valuable resources for GBA scholars and practitioners.
