Abstract

On June 12th 1754, on the occasion of Dorothea Erxleben's (1715-1762) doctorate, Johann Joachim Lange (1699-1765) wrote a congratulatory poem. Through this, Lange not only pays tribute to the great achievement of Erxleben, who became the first graduates female doctor in Germany, but also commits him-self to the idea of women's education. To commemorate this admirable woman, his commendatory work is reprinted here, along with a brief introduction.
