Abstract

The book "How to read Chinese poetry: A guided anthology" traces the evolution of Chinese poetric tradition as it presents 143 famous poems composed over the long period of almost three millennia. This introduction highlights the major aspects of Chinese poetry--i.e. themes, genres and subgenres, oral and literati traditions, prosody, structure, etc.
