Marginal Discourse Analysis of Hong Kong Indie Music: Symbol of Youth Subculture

Indie music developed from Post-punk and Alternative rock. Its core value is the independent attitude of pursuing one's own beliefs. Therefore, Indie music has always been an outlet for youth to express themselves. This article analyzes Hong Kong Indie music in recent years from the perspective of marginal discourse analysis, and summarizes the depression, confusion and new Lion Rock Spirit of Hong Kong youth. As power of deconstruction, Hong Kong Indie music erodes the centralized discourse of the older generation. As power of construction, Hong Kong Indie music infuses new blood of youth to mainstream discourse.

獨立音樂由後朋克音樂和另類搖滾演變而來，核心內涵是堅持自我追求的獨立態度，一直以來是青少年話語表達的重要途徑。本文從邊緣話語分析的視角，通過對近年來香港獨立音樂的分析，展現了香港當代青年的失落迷茫與獨立熱忱的新獅子山精神。香港獨立音樂既作為一種解構性的力量，一定程度上削弱了老一代香港人的中心話語地位；同時也作為一種建構性的力量，為主流話語注入新鮮血液。
