Abstract

Since the global financial crisis of 2008, the capitalist world has grappled with significant upheavals. The public voice has risen in protest, even major investment firms and magnates have begun to address environmental concerns, global inequality, wealth concentration, and above all, the continued relevance of Karl Marx. Yet, this hasn't always been the norm. The decline of communism worldwide has forced Marxism into a struggle for its existence. Meanwhile, the global Right advances under the banner of neoliberalism, whereas the Left appears fragmented, a phenomenon reflected not only in intellectual spheres but in political systems worldwide. In this context, the work of David Fasenfest becomes critically important. His scholarly contributions over the last four decades, including his roles as the editor of Critical Sociology and the Brill book series, his commitment to promoting Marxist ideas, and his efforts to stimulate critical social analysis, especially in the Global South, are significant. Fasenfest's unwavering dedication has greatly contributed to the advancement of Marxist scholarship.
