Abstract

This paper aims to explore variations in children’s emotional and behavioural well-being by their socio-demographic characteristics and social relationships in Hong Kong. Specifically, this paper has two objectives: (1) to present evidence on child-reported material deprivation index derived from survey data – thereby addressing
the limitations in traditional approach to adult-derived child poverty measures; and (2) to examine prevalence and associated factors of children’s problem behaviours using self-administered Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ).
