Abstract

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily disrupted the operations of major urban centers worldwide (including a near-complete cessation of face-to-face classes). However, the rapid deployment of telecommunication technologies played a pivotal role in enabling the resumption and reconstruction of day-to-day functions, from operational-level tasks to the communication of executive decisions, thereby facilitating the restoration of financial and economic activities. The emergence of various digital communication platforms, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, and video conferencing capabilities on applications like WhatsApp and WeChat, has facilitated the continuation of national and international exchange, service delivery, and access to daily necessities, enabling business operations to continue with relative normalcy within the virtual realm. Within the higher education sector, in response to the challenges posed by the cessation of in-person interactions, virtual classroom environments were introduced to facilitate teaching and learning.
