Abstract

As part of his research for a book about Chang and Eng Bunker, the original ‘‘Siamese Twins,’’ author Yunte Huang traveled to MountAiry, North Carolina, where the twins lived and raised their families for three decades after they left show business. Mount Airy, in addition to being the twins' home (and final resting place), is the birthplace of Andy Griffith and a model for Mayberry, the fictional home of Sheriff Andy Taylor, played by Griffith on television for eight seasons
