Abstract
The purpose of this report is to discuss the compatibility of the carbon capture units of the China Resources Power (Haifeng) Plant Carbon Capture Test Platform Project (CCTP), which is located on the southern coast of Guangdong Province in China. The preliminary design report has been submitted to CRP and detailed design and construction are in progress. The project will be put into operation in March 2019. The CCTP is the first phase of Guangdong Offshore CCUS Project, which is a large-scale integrated CCUS demonstration project at a million tons level. The CCTP is designed to test various carbon capture technologies in parallel using real flue gas from the power plant, and support technology selection for future million tons capture projects based on the experience gained from the test platform and test results. The CCTP will be the first carbon capture technology test centre in Asia, the third multi-technology platform after the National Carbon Capture Centre in U.S. and the CO2 Technology Centre Mongstad in Norway. It is also the first of its kind built in an ultra-supercritical coal-fired power plant. Shell CANSOLV amine-based absorption technology and MTR membrane separation technology are selected as the first technologies tested at the CCTP. The Amine Capture Unit and Membrane Separation Unit of the CCTP are designed based on the Process Packages provided by the above-mentioned two technology providers, integrated with compatibility design for testing emerging process configurations and solvents from international and domestic technology providers in the future. The site space, pre-treatment system capacity, and the interfaces of common infrastructure and utilities are reserved for small-scale test devices of innovational carbon capture technologies.
