Abstract
The article explores the relationship of Joseph Conrad with the journal "English Review" that redefined his English writer role from 1908 to 1917. It discusses the respective visions of Ford Madox Ford and Conrad about English life and Ford claiming that the serialization of the autobiographical reminiscences of Conrad was his main justification for founding "English Review." Also noted is the clear statement of Conrad about Russian politics entitled "Autocracy and War" published in their July 1905 issue.
