Research output: Other Conference ContributionsPresentation

Abstract

In response to the societal challenges posed by an ageing population and demographic shifts, Lingnan University (LU) has begun integrating Gerontechnology Education into its curriculum. This initiative is at the forefront of promoting gerontechnology through projects such as LU’s Jockey Club Gerontechnology and Smart Ageing in Place Project. This project underscores the importance of smart ageing solutions within local communities and highlights the necessity for a comprehensive approach that prepares young talents to actively engage in addressing the needs of an ageing society.

This presentation aims to share experiences and reviews on how elements of gerontechnology education have been incorporated into various academic curricula and Service-Learning initiatives at LU. It will also review how students benefit from different in-class activities, community engagement, and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. By integrating gerontechnology into teaching and learning, this project seeks to cultivate a new direction for transformative teaching and learning approaches as well as a generation of professionals well-equipped to address the challenges of an ageing society and promote intergenerational harmony.
