Whether Affordable Housing Policy Can Overcome Housing Affordability Issue? Adopting Literature Review to Analyse

Abstract

Adequate housing as one of the essential human rights regulated by the UN, it is necessary for every government to guarantee that most of citizens in the country are living the adequate housing. Affordable housing policy as one of the most common one which is adopted by a number of countries nowadays to guarantee the citizens’ adequate housing right. Besides the human right perspective, affordable housing policy also can bring social economics benefit. Hence, this research adopts literature and other documents reviews method to evaluate and analyse the main economic entities’ housing affordability issues and their affordable housing policies including mainland China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and Singapore to try to find out whether the affordable housing policy is effective and feasible enough to deal with the housing affordability crisis in these entities. Through analysing these entities cases, this research hopes to summarise the experience from these cases to illustrate how important of affordable housing policy to deal with the housing affordability.
