Abstract

In rural areas, the reform is most obviously reflected in the widespread collapse of people's communes and implementation of the household contract responsibility system, which helped re-establish the dominance of the household-based peasant economy in rural China. From 1952 when the first agricultural producers' cooperative at village level was built, to 1956 when the cooperative turned into a joint village cooperative and up until the present, Zhoujiazhuang village has had its name changed, for example, from the people's commune in the past to township government. In November 1951, three agricultural producers' mutual aid teams in Zhoujiazhuang village merged to form the first cooperative of the county, Cao Tongyi Agricultural Producers' Cooperative, which comprised 20 farming households with 194.6mu arable land. Zhoujiazhuang Cooperative adopted a labor management and distribution system on the basis of labor quota management, unified calculation by the cooperative and distribution according to work.
